Course Description: This course is an introduction to the exciting and rapidly advancing fields of image processing and computer vision. It covers two main topics: fundamental techniques in image processing, and techniques and applications in video analysis and computer vision. One goal of computer vision is to enable computers to analyze and extract high level information from the world from images in a similar way to humans. Students code algorithms in Matlab to demonstrate deep and practical understanding of the course material. The course highlights Image Processing and Computer Vision research strengths, including medical imaging and real-time non-cooperative face recognition.
