The course also emphasizes the procedures of genetic and cytogenetic analysis with agricultural (plant and animal) and veterinary examples. Students use computer simulation to illustrate the principles of population genetics, quantitative inheritance, and selection programs. This course also provides exposure to current plant and animal breeding and biotechnology practices and creates awareness of ethical issues relating to these developments.
