Course Description:
This course offers a study of US foreign policy with respect to a set of contemporary global security challenges. The course critically analyzes the meaning of “security” and considers available policy options for constructing security. Students examine US foreign policy with respect to what are often considered its main security challenges today, including: its alliance with Europe and NATO; geopolitical rivalry with Russia, China, and Iran; and terrorism. The course concludes with a discussion on how the role of the US on the global stage is likely to develop over the coming decades.
