Course Description: This course covers upper elementary level vocabulary and kanji and practices daily conversations involving such situations as asking a friend out to lunch, rejecting someone's offer politely, talking about one's family, ordering at a restaurant, asking for permission, visiting a Japanese family, explaining how to use a machine, giving a farewell speech, talking on the telephone, asking for opinions, and explaining one's own opinion. Upon completion of the course, students should have learned 300 kanji and 1,500 basic words and be able to pass level 3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Exam. Text: Chapters 26-50 of 3A Corporation, MINNA NO NIHONGO. Assessment: attendance, classroom performance, midterm exam, and final exam.
