Course Description: This course covers two components of psychology: personality and social psychology. The personality component of this course focuses on major contemporary issues in the study of personality and selected areas of contemporary research. Topics explored in this section of the course include the neuroscience of personality, personality processes, the emotional and motivational correlates of personality, personality change and stability, trait and type approaches to personality, and the interface between personality and abnormal psychology. The social psychology component of this course includes more advanced theoretical and empirical work in the areas of individual, interpersonal, and group processes. Topics explored in this part of the course are selected from advanced research in attitudes and social cognition, interpersonal, small group, and sociocultural processes.
