Course Description: This course provides an understanding of the philosophical underpinnings as well as the principles, instruments, an institutions that have evolved to protect and promote human rights. It also explores the linkages between the application of human rights at the domestic and international levels, the diverse and increasingly complex relationship that exists between the two. Particular focus is on Ghana and Africa, and the causes of failures to recognize rights and ensuing volitions thereof shall be examined. Philosophical works, case law, notable international pacts and their institutions and political accords are the primary source of study materials.
