Course Description: This course studies selected themes relating to the Holocaust, including the nature and character of the Nazi regime; Nazi policies towards the Jews from 1933 to 1939; adoption and implementation of the policy of anti-Jewish genocide; the responses to Nazi policies of German Jews; ghettos in the East; camps and resistance; the concept of bystanders; the response of the Jewish world, Western governments, and Christian churches; Holocaust denial and the Historikerstreit. Assesment: coursework (50%) and a final exam (50%).
