Course Description: | This course offers a study of law of the European Union (EU). The course discusses topics including the origin of the EU legal system, the evolution of the EU’s legal rules, the legal construct of economic freedoms, European integration, the Internal Market and European competition law, the institutions of the EU and their decision-making competence, the sources of the law of the EU, the relationship between the legal system of the EU and those of member States, and the enforcement of EU law at the European and national level. The course consists of lectures, seminars, group discussions, and a mock court simulation that consists of a written and an oral part. The course requires that students have completed an upper division law course, see the course webpage for additional information. |
