Course Description: This course offers an introduction to the fundamental principles, concepts, and problem solving methods in physics. The course focuses on two main topics. The first is classical mechanics with its bedrock concepts such as inertia, momentum, and energy, as well as its more diffuse concepts such as space and time. The second topic is Einstein’s special theory of relativity with its new view on space and time, paradoxes, and its role as a gateway to modern physics beyond mechanics. The course consists of lectures, problem solving, presentations, and a written essay. The course requires that students have a background in secondary school level calculus, algebra, and physics as a prerequisite
