Course Description: This course offers a study of human and animal biology. The course utilizes examples from the animal kingdom to illustrate the context of human physiology, development, and evolution. The course explores three main topics: homeostasis and adaptation; hormones, reproduction, and development; and defense and neural integration; each to be covered in a five week cycle. The course consists of readings, lectures, problem solving sessions, group presentations, a written paper, and three written tests. The course requires that students have a background in secondary school level biology as a prerequisite.
