Course Description: The course is divided into three consecutive parts: regional as an analytical unit, region-based analytical approaches, and regional cooperation and integration around the world. The first and second part of the course is lecture-based. Students are introduced to different theoretical approaches to regionalism and region integration beyond disciplinary boundaries. The lecture covers the ideational, economic, political, security, institutional, global dimensions of regional cooperation and integration. The third part of the course relies on student presentations. It covers a variety of regional cooperative and integration schemes around the world. Course participants are required to do group presentations on the evolutionary trajectory of regionalism in a particular region. Towards the end of the term, students are required to write a term paper which employs region as an analytical unit. Assessment: term essay (40%), paper presentation (20%), class participation and discussion (20%), attendance (20%).
