Course Description: Oriental literature is an important part of world literature, and it has a long history and rich connotation. However, as a result of long historical reasons, especially of Eurocentrism prejudice, Oriental literature is not being taken seriously. As one of great powers in Orient, China should have a deep research and understanding of Oriental literature, should strive to popularize Oriental literature including Chinese literature to the world. Under the background of history of world literature, this course defines the cultures, civilizations and origin of literature of Orient and Occidental, focuses on introducing a series of classical Oriental works to analyze Oriental literature. This course develops interest in Oriental literature, Oriental culture and Oriental civilization, and improve literature appreciation ability. Texts: Ji. XL. (1988).
