Course Description: This is a course for introducing and analyzing the major issues of Chinese politics. It demonstrate the outline of Chinese politics to understand China's politics chronologically and comparatively. Topics includes basic introduction Chinese politics, political thoughts, political system, contemporary government, and its relations with the outside. References: Frederick W. Mote, IMPERIAL CHINA 900-1800; Philip Kuhn, ORIGINS OF THE MODERN CHINESE STATE; Yu-lan Fung, A SHORT HISTORY OF CHINESE PHILOSOPHY. Assessment: Final exam (50%), report (30%), class participation (5%), group discussion and presentation (15%).
