Course Description:	This course introduces students to the scientific study of prosodic phenomena, in particular intonation, phrasing and rhythm stress, rhythm, phrasing and intonation, and their interrelations. The languages studied are English and Dutch. Similarities and differences between these languages at the word and utterance level are investigated. Students collect speech samples from native speakers and learn to analyze these by standard techniques, and to report on the results of the analysis.
