Course Description:
This course covers the ways in which the media shapes the way people think and act, the way they behave toward one another, the way they perceive (and respond to) the world, and the way they live their lives. It begins with a discussion of what the media is and how it exerts influence on people's work, social relations, and beliefs. The various theories of media touched upon in the course occasionally include assumptions about language, signs, perception, technical apparatuses, and society.
