Course Description: This class covers the basic models used in international trade (Gravity Model, Ricardian Model, Specific Factors Model, Heckscher-Ohlin Model, and Standard Trade Model). The different components of trade policy are explained (Imperfect Competition, External Economies, International Factor Movements, and Instruments of Trade Policy). Trade in developing countries are explored and controversies in trade policy are discussed. The class is accompanied by a tutorial during which students discuss study questions and do mathematical economics.
