Course Description: This course explores creative work in many fields that use technology as the core of its work. The use of electronics in the visual arts, video, experimental film, music and sound art, theatre, installations, advertising, multimedia and, design are covered from different perspectives and examined through the lens of many disciplines. Students study practical applications from historical and contemporary perspectives as well as the theories underpinning these practices. Lectures are based on 20th and 21st-century electronic art and the collaborations of inventors, artists, industry conditions, and innovators that make it all possible. The course includes guest speakers on their work and discipline as well as a wide range of presentations on historical material and the newest developments in electronic and hybrid digital and analogue methods. Regular practical challenges throughout the semester will reinforce facility with the standard tools of the digital workstations and analogue techniques.
