Course Description: This beginning course is for students with no Japanese language background. The course develops real-life communication competence in Japanese and provides practical skills including reading and writing to fulfill daily life in Japan. The course teaches how to communicate in simple Japanese, read and write Japanese scripts and about 50 kanji, exchange greetings and respond to basic questions and classroom instructions, and talk about familiar things such as family, friends, home, favorite food, schedule, etc. The course uses online tools in addition to class time to facilitate learning.
