Course Description: New Communication technologies have enabled faster and wider communications across geographic borders. This course examines the role of communication technologies in global society by reviewing theories and analyzing current global events. Globalization has become a popular terminology both in public and academic domains. This course reviews theories of globalization with a focus on culture, communication technology and media. Communication in the current global society will be examined in the context of specific themes including the network society, social media, cultural hybridization, social movement, and popular culture.
