Course Description:
This seminar reads and discusses Japanese modern literature (novel) carefully and logically; and consider characteristics of the literature. Using textbook "Japan Modern Short Fiction Collection," which include the works "Female Creators" by Tamura Haruo, "House of the Western Famous Fang Dog" by Sato, "Death of Boninists" by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, "Cat Eight" by Iwano Awamori, Hiroshi Kikuchi's "Bidding", this class examine the philosophy, characteristics, expression of Taisho literature and taste the short story of Taisho period. P/NP grading only.
