Course Description: This course examines the processes related to the Evolution of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), with a focus on sustainable development and national legislation on the environment. It covers identification and assessment of environmental impacts of development and their implication on overall decision-making process. Topics include tools of impact assessment and mitigation; demographic, climatic, health, ecological, social, and economic impact assessment; environmental management systems; environmental auditing and reporting; land disturbance and reclamation; project decommissioning. The course also provides an analysis of case studies in mining and geology environmental management.
