Course Description: This course examines the theme of food in human life, examining such issues as food and human evolution; the influence of food production on social life and organization; the cultural classification of foods; food and the morality of exchange; food and gender; status and food consumption; and food and globalization. Assessment: class attendance and class participation (10%), two 1,300 to 1,500-word essays (15% each), food diary analysis and presentation (20%), and final exam (40%).
