Course Description:
This course reflects on an array of issues related to women in the Arab world with a focus on the Moroccan context. The course explores sex roles and male-female dynamics in different parts of the world. The course examines a variety of struggles faced by women in challenging male dominance in their patriarchal societies. Topics include: imbalance of rights, women's movements, well known Arab women figures, gender violence, women and empowerment, and women and their participation in the Islamist movement.
