Course Description: This course is a study of basics and recent advances in ecology and evolution. Lectures are given weekly by a different professor specializing in various fields.The goal is provide background knowledge concerning ecology and evolution. The topics covered are: floral ecology of plants, global change of plants, ecological stoichiometry, evolution, reproductive isolation of plants, gene/genome duplication, heterospecific mating interactions, island biology, functional ecology in plant response to environmental change, microorganisms and their environments, biodiversity and ecosystem services, dendrochronology, regional floras and herbaria, and endosymbiosis and the origin of plants. Assessment: attendance (50%) and a paper (50%).
