Course Description: This course offers an interdisciplinary perspective on child development. The course develops an integrated understanding of child development from infancy to adulthood. In this course, students gain comprehensive knowledge on child development and practice the skills needed to communicate ideas to persons from various disciplines. In a series of lectures, experts from various disciplines discuss important findings of child research in their field (e.g. psychology, neuroscience, law, geography, animal models, philosophy, linguistics). This knowledge is integrated by discussing topical issues in child development with other students during interdisciplinary working groups. Moreover, this interdisciplinary knowledge is applied to a topic of choice through a literature review with 4-6 fellow students.
