Course Description: | The seminar is dedicated to contemporary Germany and provides an introduction to the most important structures of the country. It covers the responsibilities of Parliament, political parties, Bundestag, the Federal Chancellor, the Federal President, and the Federal Councilor. Topics covered include: the function of Förderalismus with its state governments; dedicated civil society and plural life forms; educational system; Germany’s reputation as a cultural nation; the cultural scene and media landscape; the German way of life and typical leisure activities. These topics are pursued with the help of academic and literary texts, films, and excursions. There are several excursions planned. |
