Course Description: This course assists students to master foundations of kanji and Japanese vocabulary, as well as autonomous learning skill necessary for university students. Student become able to read and write about 1,100 kanji and vocabulary using those kanji. They learn both the Japanese and Chinese ways of reading kanji, and understand the meanings behind specific strokes, as well as the meaning behind each kanji character. Text: Original materials prepared by International Christian University Japanese language program. Assessment: quizzes (40%), homework assignments and in-class tasks (20%), and final exam (40%).
