Course Description: This course surveys ancient and medieval Europe, from ancient Greece to the Reformation. Ancient and medieval world might seem to be a remote society, but there are many connections with, and influences on, contemporary world. To think about the democracy, politics, religion, liberty, and sciences, past society shows us many examples and sometimes gives us a clue to seeing the modern world from different perspectives. Therefore, in addition to developing an awareness of the ancient and medieval European history through the textbook, the course examines some specific topics to understand the relationship between the past and the present. Assessment: exam, participation.
