Course Description: This course analyzes the Japanese language by using multimedia materials (e.g. Japanese drama, anime, manga, etc.) to deepen understanding of the Japanese language. Moreover, the course views Japanese from the perspective of other languages. When teaching or analyzing language, it is much easier to use multimedia materials rather than mono media ones, which are only limited to text (e.g. dictionaries, novels, etc.). After both foreign and Japanese students analyze a topic of choice in the Japanese language (e.g., honorific and humble language, etc.) through multimedia material, they are to present their findings in a group presentation.
