Course Description:	This course focuses on the novel DIE WAHLVERWANDTSCHAFTEN (1809) by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. In each meeting a weekly reading is discussed and each student must answer a question. One central focus of the class is on the most important techniques of narrative text analysis. Through this, students learn about the literature and culture of the early nineteenth century as well as Goethe's views on society, love, and nature.
